Which Instagram links work here?

Links that point at a single public post: instagram.com/reel/..., instagram.com/p/... and instagram.com/tv/.... Profile links, story links and links to private accounts are not supported.

Why does a private post fail?

A private post is only visible to approved followers, and that permission belongs to your Instagram session rather than to a link. Nothing here can see it, which is deliberate.

Can I save a whole carousel at once?

Carousel posts list each slide as a separate option once the post has been analyzed, so you choose the ones you actually want rather than downloading all of them.

Does this work with Instagram stories?

Not currently. Stories expire and are tied to who is allowed to see them, so they are left out rather than handled unreliably.

Do I need the Instagram app installed?

No. You only need the link. If you are on a desktop browser you can copy it from the address bar of the post, though the share menu gives a cleaner link.

About downloading Instagram content

Instagram publishes three quite different things through one interface: short vertical reels, feed videos that can be any shape, and photo posts that may hold a single image or a carousel of up to twenty. They look similar while you scroll, but each one is delivered differently, which is why this site gives each of them its own tool instead of a single button that quietly guesses.

What the link tells us

An Instagram link carries a short code that identifies the post, and the path in front of that code says what kind of post it is. A link with /reel/ in it is a reel; /p/ is a feed post that may be video or photos; /tv/ is an older long-form video. That is enough for the site to route your link to the right handling without you selecting anything.

Why some posts cannot be processed

Private accounts, deleted posts and posts restricted to certain countries will not resolve. This is not a limitation to be worked around: visibility on Instagram is a permission the person who posted controls, and a link on its own does not carry that permission.

Using what you download

Saving a copy of something is not the same as being allowed to use it. The person who posted a reel or photo normally holds the copyright in it, and reposting without permission can breach both their rights and Instagram's terms.
